A nice little group. The 254 is actually an Infantry Rgt. Sander was probably awarded the Iron Cross for the action that got him wounded. The wound was apparently severe enough to be awarded the Silver Would Badge and his discharge in December 1942. Later in 1944, the Wehrbezirkkommando in Rendsberg, sent him his Ostmedaille award.

The Bescheinigung states that he is allowed to be out of the hospital without wearing a belt which likely relates to the wound he received.

On January 1942, Ernst Seifert was commander of the 110 Inf. Div., of which the 254th was a part.
