    Warning Notice from POW Hut

    Hi all

Many years ago my father obtained this notice from an ex NZ POW. He described how on liberation he grabbed this notice off the door of his hut as he left. Very fragile now but still a nice piece of history.

      Hi Erwin,

Excellent little piece of history you have there!
This sort of item really appeals to me, it was probably locally produced in small numbers to a particular POW camp - and very, very few would have survived.
Very rare, in my opinion; but unfortunately not worth a lot.
Many thanks for showing, really like it!
I have several POW letters from a family member captured at Dunkirk, not worth more than a few pounds in total, but great history.

      Best wishes,

      John.

        notice

To complete the before-and-after idea you just need to come up with a post-war no fraternization warning. Very interesting that the Germans would see a need to print such a warning.

There was a NZ POW who got his boys 'liberated" from a concentration camp to a POW camp in Germany. I forget his name. Was a celebrated War Hero in New Zealand after he came back. This wasn't from him was it?

Does anyone know his name? ( I know what he looks like but cant remember his name for the life of me!)
