My Grail Quest Has Finally Ended!

As an Infanterie collector, I have been after an original copy of the famous "Infanterie" poster for years. I don't remember exactly when my quest started, but it was at least 8 years ago, probably closer to 10 years ago. There were times I was pushing hard and other times I was distracted by other shiny objects in this hobby. My desire to own this poster never faded though.

A had a few leads and came close a couple of times. Once I even glimpsed an original. Alas, I was never able to pry one out of a collection. Then out of nowhere, I got an email from someone I had talked to over 5 years ago asking if I am still interested in this poster. The someone was a poster dealer and they had just bought a 50yr+ collection and had a near mint example to offer. Like anything that timing was terrible, as I had several major expenses I was dealing with, however I was determined to not to let this one escape my grasp. This hobby can be frustrating at times, but every so often things do work out. After many years of frustration and dead end leads, I am very happy to be able to share this one with you.

    I hope you enjoy!

    Regards,
    John

I used to have a repro of this poster in my war room. Congrats on hunting down an original

Looks fantastic John, like Simon I used to have a repro on my wall, as a child many years ago. Very powerful propaganda poster that no doubt enticed a lot of young Germans to join up...

To own a piece of history is a wonderful thing, but sometimes the 'hunt' can also be fun too!

              Thanks guys!

Too funny, I too had bought a copy for display. After a few months I just couldn't look at it anymore because I knew it a reproduction. Now that I've finally landed this one, I wonder what life will be like without the chase? Perhaps I will need to invent a new grail?

              Best,
              John D.

I'm sure it will greatly enhance your collection and I'm looking forward to seeing it later this year when flying up with Tami.

                          Cheers,
