Are you certain it's U-boat and not surface ship? Reason I ask is that it reminds me of the flounder flat fish flotilla symbol of the 7 R-fl.

Positive, this is from a set of photos I have and they are clearly u-boat men as they are all standing on the deck of the boat returning from sea.
