Königstiger Fotos on Ebay

did any of you see this offereing on Ebay.

What are your thoughts? Original?

Also, the large painted "12" on the turret - I know that Soviets painted such numbers on the turret when a tank was captured.

Also I wonder if there are part of the 6 Königstiger of schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503 the that supported the 357. ID in March of 1945 by Verebely (Vráble - Slovak republic).

In any case, interesting Fotos.

Tiger II #12

Hi,

The photo was taken in Normandy just before D-Day, the unit of this Tiger is Pz Kp (fkl) 316, and this Tiger and the other five were all lost in the Chateaudun and Dreux area of Normandy in August 1944.

The other Tiger II's in the unit were 02, 03, 10, 11,and 13.

They also were the first six Tiger II manufactured and their chassis numbers are 280001, 002, 003, 004, 005 and 006.

All were Porsche turret vehicles, all were abandoned due to mechanical problems, as they had been used for early testing by the Wehrmacht, so were very well used when finally issued to this Pz Kp.
The US Army captured all of them but of course did not knock any of them out in combat.

Here is a photos of #11, there are photos available in other forums and in books of all of these Tigers.

Still - is that any reason they keep the large, very obvious numbering?

Hi Erich,

Attached is a photo of #12 when abandoned, but why they had such large and easily seen numbers, I do not know.

This unit was supposed to also have 3x Tiger 1 and 9x StuG III, but so far nobody has been able to identify any of them, and nobody is really sure they had them at all, especially the Tiger 1's.
