Surprised that no-one recognizes any of the POWs. This is a very rare photo from 18. POW-Camp, Featherstone Park Camp, Haltwhistle!

I have on the first picture:

SS-Oberführer Otto Baum

And potentially:

Ewald Bartel, Major der Reserve FHH?

I wonder why Otto Baum is the only person in these photos who's been allowed or has chosen to wear his shoulder rank insignia.
Maybe he was the most Senior German Officer present in the POW camp at that time and this was an official requirement?
Any thoughts or alternative theories?

Hi Jeff,

Not really sure if that is the case. There were a lot of high-ranking officers at this camp. Also, I would assume if he was the top ranking person at the camp, he would be sitting in the middle of the first row... But I am not an expert!

I am trying to find more on this camp...
