Jeez Tom, get the video camera out and a healthy list of questions about his service and roll the tape while you have the opportunity!!!! seeing his photos and perhaps all captioned by the vet would also be a real treat!

It may job some memories if you could show him this thread?

Good luck and keep us posted!

    Kevin

      Today a „Nashorn“ (Sd.Kfz. 164)

Great photo of Nashorn with Hummel-style gun travelling lock! I don't remember having seen the standard Balkenkreuz on that position. Are you aware of the unit it belonged to, Nick?

I remember having seen a similar photo in the estate of a member of s.Pz.Jg.Abt. 88 but it´s just a guess.

Very nice picture - but it is not a Hummel - it is a Marder I (Sd.Kfz.135)

                regards

Unfortunately not. I just bought two photos - nothing on backside. I´m always looking for a photo lot or something like that - but it is hard to find - most sellers sell picture by picture.

                  regards

Thanks Nick, I know the situation very well, too. I always try to get the most, but often lacking the best few.

Attached is one from Armee-Panzerjäger-Abteilung 158 / 742 negative group. This is one of the best quality negative sets I've seen.
