Not a hospital scene, it's a timeless joke on military life, one that any soldier from any country can appreciate. The Hauptfeldwebel and his NCOs serving the recruits breakfast in bed.

The quotation on the right is "Soldaten leben, ja dass heisst lustig sein".

Roughly, a soldiers life means to keep a sense of humor. The men serving the breakfast are saying things such as "what would you like for breakfast?" and "I hope you slept well". One of the soldier's in bed (2nd from left, I believe) is saying 'Where's my morning paper!?'
