It's fake despite backlight test.
Michael, authentic Prien is not easy to find. What evidence is there that he signed a lot of material? Ignoring the fake factory version, I have never over the years seen a lot of Prien material.
There are threads on this forum discussing fake Prien, Kevin. I'll find them and put a link here for you yo compare. Don't waste your money on this junk.Last edited by Jeremy; 02-14-2015, 06:36 PM.

What makes you sure? It's easy to say it's fake but any reason behind that assertion?

What specifically do you think makes it not authentic? There must be something that you see to think it is fake. Is it the P? The lettering? The period?
If you know it's fake off the bat, then what specifically leads you to that conclusion? I've looked an numerous known signatures now and can't see that much if any difference.

Hi Kevin
Because straight off the bat I see it is a fake factory Prien-I immediately recognise the type and style of signature. See my other threads on fake factory signatures, Rommel, Marseille, Hartmann, Schnaufer etc. The fake factory signatures look similar to a good one but usually are more simplistic, in greater number, and very similar to one another.
It's hard for some collectors to believe that the fake factory sigs are fake, given their prevalence so I understand your questioning, and I think many collections are tainted by this material, mine was until the Marseille thread and I began to recognise fake factory material.
Will show the Prien fake factory style later.

After you intial take I did a lot of research myself and after reviewing this thread, I'm inclined to believe it's genuine. Whether it is or not, we'll never know 100% as the only way to know that is if you saw the person sign it.

We can agree to disagree my friend. Thanks for your insight.

Ok
Hmmm. I'll present my view as I said but I would also like your justification for why it is authentic.
You need to look at more than one thread.
