Here's one belonging to an SS Sturmmann Richard Frisch of II.SS Artillery Regiment 17 "Gotz von Berlichingen". Richard was born 23.7.03 in Stuttgart and was killed a month shy of his 31st birthday near Ouville on 23.6.44. Note the shattered K98 stock and the artillery shell at the base of his grave. Also note the "S" ruine fashioned out of tree limbs. Writing on back states "German grave at airfield Sept. 1944 Laon, France".

and here's a close-up. Sorry for the poor quality. I tried a high-res scan but it just doesn't seem to work.

Feldwebel R. Marquardt, killed July 10, 1941. back of photo says Tscherkow, 76 km southeast of Mogilev, Russland, block 2, field 1, grave nr. 100.

I picked this up this past summer and I normally do not buy such things but the dealer was selling the next photos separately from a house cleaning (his widow died this past year) and I couldnt bear that the photos be separated. They stay together forever in my collection and now in yours.

                Regards,

                Thomas
