This is part of an 18 card series of postal stationery consisting of the imprinted 3, 5, and 6 rpf imprinted hitler head definitive stamp. Each value has 6 cards each with an image of a different badge. There is also a set of 6 with no imprinted stamp. Value of each card is catalogued at 90 Euros with purchase prices generally in the 40 to 70 Euro range.

Yes, I'd seen the U-Boat card. It was the Minesweeper card in particular I was interested in.
@Ramon. Very interesting information, thanks. For some reason I see the U-Boat card around a fair amount but I've only ever seen this Minesweeper card the one time. From your excellent description I would expect all the cards in the series should be equally prevalent unless maybe they were sold individually when first issued rather than in a package. Well, I'll have to keep looking. Thanks again.

Hi Norm,
The U Boot card as well as the other entries in the series will have 4 versions. The 3,5, 6 Hitler definitive imprinted stamp and, finally, the no-printed stamp postcard. The printed stamp versions are the hard ones to find. There are also a couple of Sonderstempel or special event cancellations, one of which is exceedingly rare to find that will drive prices for the specialist. And finally. if you find an imprinted stamp specimen that has been used for regular mail as opposed to just a philatelic sending, you have hit the jackpot. VERY, VERY rare (read expensive) and difficult to find.

Personally, I just need an example of the Minesweeper card and it doesn't have to be a rare version of it. Have you seen more examples of the Minesweeper card like the one that I posted, with or without the imprinted stamp?

I don't know why the Minesweeper badge card has a Vienna cancellation mark instead of a Dresden cancellation mark like the others?

Yes Hank, that makes sense, but I noticed that the entire series seems to have originated in Dresden, printed "Tag der Wehrmacht Dresden" on the left above the badge, and all the other examples posted have a Dresden cancellation, so I assumed they were printed and stamped for the Dresden market. But I guess some must have been sent uncancelled to other cities (like Vienna) and were cancelled there -- but these seem to be the minority?Originally posted by Hank C. View Post

This issue was postmarked in one of 3 cities: Dresden, Hagen, and Vienna. In my experience, Hagen is the most difficult to find.
