Les Alpes Maritimes is one of my favourite areas of the world, get away from Nice, Monaco and the big tourist areas and there's some lovely places to live there.

A couple of years ago we spent 3 weeks at a gîtes in Contes. Whilst walking around the old ruined medieval hilltop village of Châteauneuf-Villevieille i found a US 60mm mortar bomb tail fin. I have this bad habit of finding WWII related stuff wherever i seem to go we were actually looking for bits of medieval pottery at the time
