    Gebirgsjäger Kriegszeichner Info Needed

    Grüß Gott Bergkameraden,

I am looking for information about a German War Artist named Josef Buchty. I know that he was attached to a Gebirgsjäger unit. He is from the town of Selb, Germany. After the war, he apparently taught art in Munich. I have about 40 study sketches and watercolors by him. Does anyone know more about him?

Here is one of his watercolors:

          Servus Kameraden,

Found some more information about this artist. Josef Buchty was born in Aachen in 1893. He served in both the First World War and the Second with the Gebirgsjägers. During WW II, he was with the 1.Gebirgsdivision. After the war, he taught art in the Munich area. American Watercolor Artist and National Academy of Fine Art professor, Reeve Schley, studied under Buchty in the mid-1950's. Josef Buchty died in the 1960's in Garmisch, Germany. I've been in contact with Reeve Schley and will do a more indepth interview with him about Josef Buchty in the near future.
