It says that Senior Corporal Simondi Giovani has been convicted of desertion and sentenced to death. The unnamed SS-Oscha. who passed the sentence is a Reserve Judge.

A likely candidate for composing this message is SS-Oscha. Dr. Benno Aichner.

He was the SS-Richter tasked with dealing with Italian cases before the SS-u. Pol.-Ger. Verona at the time this bill poster was written.

Was promoted to the rank of SS-Ustuf. on 30.1.1945.

Hello,

the story is simple:

My uncle had probably been employed as a judge in the arms of "Waffen-SS" - my grandparents had 5 sons & 3 daughters - but uncle Benno recognized already in 1944/45 that the war had long been lost, so he finally refused "deserters" to be put on the wall - this upright attitude cost him his own life, one quickly put him before the shooting command ...

In my life, my father, who died in 2009, always told me whenever we were talking about uncle Benno.

I would like to thank the responsible persons here in the forum for this short thread in memory of my uncle Benno very warmly!
