new additions to my iron cross collection, remagen related!

    hey paper-collectors,

just wanted to present you my latest additions to my collection of iron cross citations! as i only collect citations western front 1944/45 they are all linked to this theatre...

    - 1.) ek2 panzergrenadier-regiment 192 (21st panzer-division), dated august 31st 1944, probably awarded for action in the falaise pocket or shortly after! signed by generalleutnant edgar feuchtinger (commander 21st) and major heeringer.

    - 2.) ek2 panzergrenadier-regiment 115 (15th panzergrandier-division), dated decembre 14th 1944. signed by hans-joachim deckert (interim-commander 15th panzergrenadier). probably awarded for action in western germany (aachen, geilenkirchen...). any further information welcome!

(both panzergrenadier-citations were given to me by a very kind member of this forum, thanks again for that!)

    - 3.) ek1 luftflotte 3, dated july 19th 1944, signed by generalfeldmarschall hugo sperrle (commander luftflotte 3). unfortunately the unit will always remain in the dark as it is not mentioned on the document, but luftflotte 3 was responsible for defending the airspace over france (headquarter was located in paris by that time) so there is an almost 100% chance the soldier was awarded the iron cross for fighting in/over france (as a member of the flying forces or flak).

    - 4.) ek2 luftflotte 3 (again), dated septembre 9th 1944! quite interesting to see that, in comparison to the other luftflotte 3 citation i am showing here, this one has been signed by the new commander otto deßloch. again no unit is mentioned on the document (seems to be a constant thing at luftflotte 3), BUT this citation came with a document saying that oberleutnant schmidt, leader of leichte flak-batterie 911, has the order to "clean" the bridgehead at remagen and return to the headquarter straight after! there is a gap of about 6 months inbetween the ek2 citation and this document, but at least it is certain that oberleutnant schmidt was a member of the flak-troops (maybe 1. flak-brigade?).

i hope you enjoy what you see!

    all the best from germany,

    matthias
