Just got in this great little piece. A period signed post card and signed letter from General Gille of the 5th Panzer SS Wiking division. He is responding to a boy who wrote him asking for a signed photo. It reads...
5th Elite Panzer Division - Wiking - Commander - Eastern Front, 16th June 1944
Dear Boy Scout K. Maier!
I have received your letter with the accompanying photo and I heartily thank you for that. I will gladly fulfill your request and am sending back to you a photo with my autograph.
I wish all the best for you and hope that you will later become a seasoned soldier, perhaps even in the ranks of the elite troops. I do believe you will wear with pride the cuff title of the "Wiking" or one of the other illustrious elite divisions.
I greet you with - Salute! - Gille
Any comments appreciated.
