Photoalbum KL Mauthausen, Gusen, unknown SS Gorget.

    Hello,

I like to show you very rare and hard to find photomaterial. The album shows the building of the KZ-Gusen (Mauthausen Austria) in ca. 1938-39.
Very interesting are the photos of the SS soldiers with the gorget : "SS-KLM-Lagerpolizei". I´m sure that a gorget like this one is not to find in the books!!!

I know, it is a very special theme. Do we have collectors for matrial like this in the WAF?

    Enjoy the pics,

    Mathias

Incredible album - so bizarre - the scenes of leisure and laughs when we know what they weren't taking pictures of in the background.

It looks like a series of camp/training -> medical leave(?) -> further training/camp

Is that also a picture of 2 British soldiers? POWS?

              Thanks for sharing!

Any backstory on finding it or the soldier?

                  Hi Mathias!
                  Nice Album!
No......I never seen an "SS-KLM-Lagerpolizei" but.......!
                  These aren't ordinance Gorgets.
I think it is hand made into the Lager by the soldiers.
                  I don't think is made by "Assmann" - " C.E.Juncker" or "H. Aurich Dresden".
Sure a super difficult to find SS Gorget!
                  My Best!

Yes probably made in house by a blacksmith, super rare i wonder if any
survived the war. Be careful with the pics they look crudely made and
                        could be reproduced by fakers

Outstanding! I love the first photo! That gatehouse is still there, BTW ... it's a private residence now (fancy villa).

                            What a gorget!

BTW what's the meaning of such a tresse litzen used on that jacket?
Very unusual; no tabs, no eagle but shoulderboards and litzen.
Has this anything to to with the KL staff?

Nice album Mathias. Great you showed so much.
A photo of the wearing of the gorget is shown in my gorget-book on page 407 (credited to a Dutch police collector). Pitily one cannot read there K.L., but it is the same gorget. An actual gorget is not known too me, otherwise I would have had it in my book.

                              Thanks, Wilhelm
