    group

    Hi all,

One of my pics of a german soldiers group. I presume this photo dated before 1940. Any idea about the branch of the WH Heer ? ( photo : Th.Voigt - Bad Homburg )
    Best regards

Really nice group shot, could you give a closer scan of the front middle soldiers as they appear to have numbers on their shoulder boards and i always have great fun trying to tie down their military units, plus that sord looks dreamyyy!

    Really crisp one, cool!

Thanks Pierre for the scan, really cool, loved the central officer with the cool bar and sword.
I had a look at the surroundings men and i think, they they have an 11 on their shoulder boards, that possible could be 11.Infanterie-Division

Iv attached a web link for more information.
Thanks for the scan again and hope this little information helps.
        Cheers!

They didn't have divisional number on the boards, they wore regiment number.

Now that I am back home I'll try the easiest way... Please correct me if I get something wrong...

Pierre has Bad Homburg (lucky he told us the Atelier stamp). I don't know where Bad Homburg is, but when I look into Tessin volume 16 part 4 page 277, I see Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe, which would lead to Wehrkreis IX. Now I open Tessin volume 16 part 2 page 144, I see Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe and it says:
              Erg. Btl. I.R.81
              10.11.38
              bei Mobilm. I./I.R.459 der 251.I.D, 4 Welle.

              Marine-Kriegsakademie
von Berlin nach hier verlegt Sept 44 (schon 43?)
              Tessin Bd. 14, S.282

              Wehrmeldeamt
              1.4.37, 1.2.38
Maybe the shoulder board reads 81?

                Hi,

Thanks for taking time for help
Like I said, it's very hard to see clearly the number on the shoulder boards. And unfortunatly, nothing is written on the backside...
                Cheers
