Hello, I have been offered this copy of Mein Kampf.....It appears to be signed by a Gauleiter...I don't know if this equates to a special edition or what.....Can anyone offer an opinion as to its authenticity or its worth? Thanx in advance...Rich

Judging from the tan board covers and half-leather spine, and the dedication page, this is an example of the "Sonderausgabe Bürgermeister," or special edition for Bürgermeisters. This edition is commonly called the "wedding edition," because it was the type most commonly presented by the Bürgermeister or other city official to newly married couples. But as the one you showed illustrates, it was also used for other types of dedications; in this case it was dedicated "to the young German family;" does it have the name of a family hand-written at the top of the dedication page?
The signature of the Bürgermeister of Mauterndorf (in Austria) is hand-signed, but the signature of the Gauleiter (appears to be Friedrich Rainer of Gau Salzburg) is most likely a facsimile signature. What's the publication date? Rainer was Gauleiter of Gau Salzburg 1939-1941.
Worth is hard to say ... to be complete it would need the cardboard slip cover that it originally had, but if the rest of the book is in the shape of the pictures shown (and if it still has the photo of Hitler in the front), it would be $80 - $120 around here.
Best,
Greg
