    8. Coy "Germania" pre-war then & now

    Hallo all,
Inspired by the great Stalingrad thread "then and now"
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=457719
I was tempted to do something alike.
As I own a pré war Germania album, I would like to show you some then & now situations.
Absolutly not as challenging as the Stalingrad thread but it was just fun to do!

    1. 8th Coy passing through BAD AROLSEN

    Situation today
    [IMG][/IMG]

    2. 8th Coy assembled for its new quarters (the old - see "Flur" below - were in the righthand building on the other side of the paradeground)
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Situation in the 90's
    [IMG][/IMG]

    3. High rank visit (Hausser, Prins Waldeck), the clocktower was to be finished some months later.
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Situation today
    [IMG][/IMG]

    4. Visit of 8th Coy end 1938 to Detmold - Hermannsdenkmal
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Last week
    [IMG][/IMG]

    5. Old 8th Coy "Flur"
    [IMG][/IMG]

Last week, re-use for appartments (near future)

The AROLSEN barracks are still there, at least some outer perimeter buildings, but changes are huge.

Very nice! I like the comparisons, but by itself, I really like the photo with Hausser.

I believe he visited the II/"G" in july 1938 as (at the time) BrigadefUhrer in his occupation as Inspekteur der SS-VT.

That sounds right. I'm guessing they are having a combat exercise, since the Germania men wear armbands. These probably designated one of two sides in an engagement.
