Could us some help with this photo regarding the translation and tactical markings on the sign. Going from left to right the 1st. one looks like some sort of infantry marking? , 2nd. 3rd Panzergruppe, 3rd.? 4th.?

The signboard is a variation of the classic Spartan inscription: Wanderer, kommst Du nach Sparta, verkündige dorten, Du habest uns hier liegen gesehen, wie das Gesetz es befahl (Stranger, tell the Spartans that you have seen us lie obedient to the laws).
But instead of laying dead they just camped (Kampieren) there - but sure in an awful condition!
I remember seeing the 3rd sign but I can't say anything now, but as you state it (an AK or a Division) is from Hoth's Panzergruppe, and it can sure be found out... The 4th sign (?) could be quite difficult, but who knows?Comment

Thank you Akira for helping on this. The shield does look very familiar but I cant place it and the fourth looks to be a animal of some type but I cant match it up? Is it safe to assume that whatever unit would pass by would add to it?

I don't think it's safe but of course it was possible... Just hope someone could come up with a photo of the signboard from a different period...Comment
