Tell me ALL this pic can say to you !

Here's a pic that was found in an "amazing" place. So, let me know ALL it tells you (the guy, the uniform, the surroundings, etc...), then I will let you know where it was discovered.

Why to me he looks like an old coastal artilleryman, pushed into infantry service, preparing to take the plunge through the Ardennes as part of one of the volksgrenadier units during the Battle of the Bulge. Okay, that may be a bit waaayyy off the deep end, but what the heck.

Actually Michael, the coastal artillery tunics, like this one are quite unique in comparison to the Heer tunic. The collars were a bit smaller, the lower pockets were cut as these with internally mounted pockets. The shoulderboards are also of the earlier style with an embroidered, winged bomb on them. They are typically fully lined as well. Also has the anchor buttons found on Navy uniforms, and yellow eagle and tabs. Pretty cool tunics.

He,s a British POW that has been caught trying to escape so they have taken a picture of him in his escape uniform . Only a guess.
