Group photo including a Luftwaffe man and an asian man

Hello all! Anyone know what the pin worn by the asian man might represent? I've also attached another photo I posted elsewhere on this site and welcome opinions on where you think the photo was taken and what ethnic group they might belong too. Thanks!

IMO the asian wears a WHW / DLV-badge simular to that one:

And I have fotos of those girls (and their comrades), too ;-)

The young Asian has the look of being from Southeast Asia (Indo-China, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos). Although Germany didn't have any colonies in Southeast Asia like the French but they did do alot of commercial business. Maybe the elder German in the photo had dealings in the orient and brought this young man back to Germany.

Patrick...Yessir! Dealings, adventures or whatever on the Orient express

The British, French, Japanese, and Americans are well known for such adventures in war or peace why not German as well.
