    Its a sporting-club: SV stand for Sportverein, St. for the town. 1911 is the year that club was founded.

    You can just make out the sign on the side of the truck, you see the "ein", ending of "Sportverein", and the beginnning of the twon, "Steels..."

        Hi BlickWatch 1, hi Gransasso,

        a little correction: SV stands for "swimming club". And this club still exists in the town Essen in the Ruhr area. Steele is a part of the town Essen.

              Thanks for the link to the club! I sent several members a copy of the photo(without the watermark and red text)via their email addresses and they can include this photo into their club archives too. They also are free to publish it but I imagine they will want to cover-up the hakenkreuz first
