    Opinions on this EK2 Urkunde

    Received awhile back, first chance I've had to post pictures. Size is full page, roughly 8x11, not the more usual smaller ones.
    Closeups of the stamp, signature, and printing company included.
    Any info appreciated! And thanks in advance.

          Any comments on this? Picked it up from a well known, but sometimes questionable dealer. It's not super rare, I know, but I don't see a whole lot like this either.

            The 723 Gren.Rgt. was part of the 719 I.D. not the 59

              I think this one's ok. True, the 723 GR was a part of the 719 ID BUT around the time Sept.\Okt. '44 both the 719 ID and the 59 ID were a part of the LXXXVIII Korps and 15 Armee on the Western front. Which would make sense of the EKII doc being printed in Metz. I would think that at the time the regiment was attached to the 59 ID, not surprising given the adhoc formations thrown together by the Germans in the panic that surrounded the airborne landings in Holland.

              It's worth noting that the LXXXVIII Korps was engaged against British and US airborne forces SW of Nijmegen late September during operation Market-Garden. And i wouldn't be surprised in the least if this award was for actions during that operation.

              The commander of the 59 at the time was Generalleutnant Walter Poppe.

                Thanks to both of you for the inputs. I've got the identity disc for the soldier, I'll have to see what it says when I get home......

                Anybody have any idea on the signature?

                    Here's a pic I received w/ the urkunde, as well as a dogtag. I can't say 100% they all belong together, as it was a dealer buy. No idea which of the 4 soldiers he is, but the sign in the background (Au Vieux Liege) would definitely put him in the Ardennes.

                    His i.d. disc is #'ed 5346 A, and 2nd line: 1. JNF ERS. KP. 454

                    Don't know if that helps or hurts, I'm not up on units.....
