I know that Emil won the DKiG and I think I read he was KIA, but not sure about the last info, I try to look into my books and found the exact detail.

By the way, a wonderful photo showing a full family serving his country.

Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

Emil received the DKiG as hauptmann der Reserve on October 10th, 1.943 serving with 3./Pionier Battallion 253, Infanterie Division 253 and commited suicide on 1.944 when his division was surrounded in Romania, still trying to find exact details and where.

          Youngesy brother survived the war.

          Still looking for more info

Helmut-Albrecht Kraas was the youngest brother, while Hugo was the oldest. There were two more brothers, who appear in a different photo, for a total of six. Helmut-Albrecht survived the war, and was one of the people who helped Jost Schneider in his research. Emil killed himself in late August 1944, when the German forces of HG Sued Ukrain were overrun and wiped out in Romania.

                  Very interesting photo indeed.

What is on Hugo Kraas's tunic covered by the letter i? Is it an award or photo flash?

                  Chris.
