Here is an original period photograph which was received from a Canadian vet along with a large purchase from him. He said that it was taken shortly after the assassination attempt to kill Hitler, pointing to Hitler's right hand which appears to be bandaged. He told me that it was taken by a Canadian "spy" who gave the photo to him! Believe what you may.
In any case, I would greatly appreciate help with the identification of those surrounding Hitler and an approximate dating, insofar as this might be possible, please.
Following are some of my observations from close examination of this photo which might be helpful:
Those on Hitler's right seem to be NSDAP officials (with an SS officer immediatelty behind the two at the extreme right); those on his left, SS officers.
The Party official on Hitler's extreme right (with a scar on his left cheek?) and the man next to him appear to be wearing Golden Party Badges on their left lapel and breast pocket, respectively.
The tall man in uniform behind them and to Hitler's right appears to be wearing a "Blood Order" ribbon on his right breast pocket.
The SS man just behind Hitler's left side appears to be wearing what looks like an SA Brunswick 1931 Badge of Honour.
SS cufftitles are just visible on two of the men on his left, although not sufficient to see which cufftitle. Identification of those two would perhaps assist in knowing this.
The man in civilian dress between the two SS men has papers in his hands and appears to be consulting with one of them. One SS man carries some rolled-up paper in his left hand.
The stamp on the reverse of the photo places the photographer - or place where it was developed - as being in Braunschweig.
The photo measures approximately 9 x 6 cm.
Thanks, in advance, for any feedback or comments.
John
