    Luftwaffe fighter ace postcards

    Hello all!

These postcards have been in my possession for awhile and are a great addition in my (small at the moment) WW2 collection. These postcards feature Joachim Müncheberg (135 victories) and Hans "Assi" Hahn (108 victories).I will try and collect more of these!

Your pic's are not the best, so I can't tell if these are original or not. If your going to collect these I suggest you study up very hard on these. They reproduce the heck out of them and are sold for original prices. Tom

Hoffmann cards are generally very easy to tell if genuine period cards or not. The principle means to tell are twofold: 1) the correct shade and type of printing on the reverse and 2) the appearance of a series number on the reverse side in top, left hand corner of the card.

If the series number is missing I would advise to pass on the card. If the Printing is very black in high contrast with no series number or if the printing has imperfectionss, the card is falsch.

The reverse of the one card you show is promising with a soft grey shading to the printing. You neglected to show the series number which I am willing to bet is present.

I have collected propaganda postcards for nearly 50 years now and I have put in the time to study this topic pretty thoroughly.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers.

I will definitely post better pics of these, the camera I got doesn't do well with light. So far both have the numbers on the upper right corner on the reverse side.Hahn card is R.25 and the Müncheberg card is R.11.The Hahn one is slightly brownish in color while the Müncheberg one is very light and whiter.

Better pictures are not necessary to establish authenticity. Both your cards are good ones. The shading I referred to was in relation to the printing on the reverse of the card with the Hoffmann info, the vertical strich and the address lines.
