    Crazy, absurd color slide prices...

There are some screwy people out there on eBay buying German WW2 color slides with more money than sense these days. Here are a couple of examples:

    http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=331216379496

465 euros for an image of a wounded RAD Feldmeister where a lot of the subject is obscured by the shadow of the photographer?!!! It's incredible!

    Another example:

    http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=331216372698

109 euros for an out of focus image of a soldier with a muddy helmet?!!!
I've got dozens of slides in my archive with almost the exact same type of depictions. I think it's time to start unloading some of my collection so I can start cashing in on this craziness!
Also here is a great online archive with some fantastic color images and they are all free! It's not like these pay-per-use archives with mostly low quality scenes that seem to be springing up lately like mushrooms from pasture pies.

Somebit bored about such Threads. Just let the People pay what they can § want to pay. An EBay price don't determine the Market Price. Perhaps will the same Dia bring only 20,00 next Week. That's a game, and that is also everyone's Freedom. Just my Opinion.

Why are you bored with this thread? Don't you find the frantic behavior of desperate and crazy auction buyers amusing? If you can't see any humor in all this, perhaps the boredom is not from the postings but actually self-imposed...!

I think threads on market trends and price anomalies are usually of interest to people who collect in that field. Of course it doesn't mean 'this is the new value for item X'. It's just an example of what Can happen. Often in auctions of broken up photo groups several items go very high as a means of scaring off the opposition, later down the line items from the same group can go a lot more cheaply.

Having said that in this case these particular shots were high from earlier on. As was the Panzer one (can't recall the final price on that one).

There are threads on WaF that are of no interest to all of us at one point or another, what most people normally do is ignore and move on.

The "RAD Feldmeister" is actually a Heer Sonderfuehrer (specialist), not that it makes too much difference to your argument.

                Hi seekwhence......

                ......
                like mushrooms from pasture pies.
and those mushrooms are lots cheaper!

I agree when it comes to the prices some seem willing to pay for common items. Just take a look at what has happened to pricing across the board over in the badges forum. Totally absurd to spend over $300 U.S. on a IAB.

                You said it correctly IMHO:
more money than sense these days

I must be seeing things but are these photos the same person in two different uniforms....the first faking the injury....?? Blood all over the face (or is it) but none soaked in the bandage......Any opinions on my question? If not you know shilling goes on...on evil bay...to run up prices on idiots all the time .

I had wondered about that as well because of the presence of the eagle over the right pocket; but there are differences with the uniform that is depicted and what was normally worn by Sonderführern (i.e. the colors seen in the shoulder straps are more like those worn by the RAD - black interwoven thread on a silver background only with no traces of red or other colors).
Of course I am no uniform expert and you are almost certainly more correct about the identification than I am. Thanks for pointing that out!

                      Dave,

Yea, I watched this set too, but dang, I could not fathom paying such prices. I did pickup the one good MG42 shot of the Soldats going over the hill w the MG. 40 Euro for a shot up Panzer IV is crazy.

                      Cheers,
                      Astarr
