Hi Guys. So it is time now to give the Explanations. As some of you Guys guessed, this Item is "just" a Gift made to a Regiment Commander as he was transferred to another Unit.
If not very decorative, this "Isba-bunker" ist not too bad, with his "underground" main Entrance and Windows.
The only miracle IMO is that this unpretentious Gift (realised by Soldiers Under Front conditions...) has survived the War.... Hard for me to imagine this Officer travelling from Russia to Bayern with this brittle Item Under his Arm.... Or he trusted the Fieldpost-Service, and well, it was really an excellent Service !!

Now, precise facts : This "Isba" has been given to Colonel JOhannes "Hannes" LIPHART, commander of Gren.Rgt.62 (7.I.D.) has he left the regiment at the beginning of JULY 1943. LIPHARD came to the Unite on Jan.18th 1942 and stayed 1 1/2 Year at the Regimental-Head during the heavy Battle of the "GSHATSK-STEELUNG". For some month, I had the Pleasure to discover in the Divisional-History, that "ALT-WEZY" is given as Regimental Headquarter on a Map page 133. See thereafter :

Page 174, some lines about the Departure from LIPHART, a brave Officer who was highly appreciated by his Soldiers. It seems that Liphart had excellent Relations with Div.Commander Fritz-Georg v. RAPPARD. During the War and after the Departure of LIPHART, v. Rappard sent him Front-Newspapers and other News from the Division.

Sure, as Miguel guessed, I have the luck to own more Souvenirs and Documents from this Colonel, I am somebit busy right now, but I will present it to the Forum in the very next Days. Lionel.

I knew it, never things come alone to Lionel........

Sure a nice gift to the coronel from his men, maybe sent to him after his depart with someone on leave or who knows, but don't derate the inventive of soldiers, Blue Division veterans were not allowed to keep anything but medals and documents when discharged from the WH and repatriated to Spain and you know what at least one tood a 50mm mortar as a souvenir, several of them took pistols, MP and other weapons, camo parkas and helmets, so when a soldier want to skip something he usually find the way.

I can not wait to see what more you have from this officer.

Congratulations on another outstanding piece of history.

And as always with Lionel he was a DKiG awarded to him as commander of the regimen in March 1.943.

Angel, now a little bit more green with envy that a couple of minutes ago.

Thank you Guys, Jacques, Tom, Bill.... and Angel...... yes it was a Life before Internet and Angel and I were already in Touch, corresponding with one week Letter Delay, or perhaps Fax, I do not remember.

As I went to my current Home, in a small village lost in the French campaign, it was 1998. I was the first one who owned a fax there, and sometimes the Major came by me to send a fax.... 16 Years ago, and it seems to be several Centuries...

2 good news Guys : I will present the Oberst asap. And I am just back from germany where I met the 75 year Old daughter of a Fw-Panzerknacker.... This Evening, I have one more nice grouping at Home

Yes, the good old days when everything was via post and fax, also we spoke a couple of times by phone......... I emember waiying for your list of pieces than running to the post office to send the answer and then wait till arrived, nothing like now that you can close a deal in a matter of minutes, at those times it can take weeks between the offer of the piece, tha request to purchase, the answer, the payment and the arrival..........

Happy to hear that you have obtained a new piece that I hope we all can enjoy here in the comming days.

Hey Daddio or should I say Angel Miguel.....Todo está bastante claro para mí

                      Alles Klar!!

Hidden messages between you two....by the way your guess doesn't count because you know each other from the old days.

Hmmm....I remember my days in the Army when we did not have computers...it was a typewriter and stubby pencils and then a word processor before we started seeing computers.

                      Bill

Yes, I also remember old army days when everything was typewritten and all the people hated my handwritten repports as they were more dificult to decypher than encoded messages........

Bill, call me father you naughty boy and as punishment you must pack your collection and send it to me, ........................ no works or yes?

This things make me feel older, I sound like my granpa when he spoke about how long it takes frm him to know something about his father and family (both my gran pa and his father were also soldiers and greatgrandfather was deployed in Afrika before the Spanish Civil War and no lines of comunications at this time also they spent the war separated from his sister and mother, both male were at the Franco side and both female in Madrid, hard time for the wife of a rebel officer)

                          Hello Father Angel Miguel Farré,

I must make a confession that you will never get my collection...Amen!!!!

My real Father was in WWII and his Father was in WW1 and I served a tour in Vietnam. My Father enlisted in 1940 stayed in the Army and retired in the 60's. I also stayed in the Army for 24 years and retired...then worked as a Goverment Civilian for the Army another 20 years. I retired a second time in August 2013.

                          Best Regards from Texas!

                          Bill

My great grandfather was first in the army and after the war transferred to the air force and retired as a colonel, my grandpa resigned after denied a transfer to the para due the fact his father was not a career officer, that was really a lucky move as his class was involved in a training accident and all were killed when is plane crashed, me also resigned when I see no future due the movements the government made.

Bill I know I never will have your collection but who can blame for trying. I see you comes rom a real military family.

Best regards form Canary Islands (currently deployed in Africa)
