    Mein Kampf with dedication 1942

Just thought I'd show this plain cover edition of Mein Kampf, dedicated by a German to a Dutchman. Maybe this was a re-covered edition so that the Dutch guy did not get trouble with the local underground? Any more thoughts about this welcome.

    Dear Sir,

    Nice MK.

Ps why do you think this was a gift to a Dutchman?

IMO this was "just" a gift to a German soldier who was stationed at de Kooi near by Den Helder.

    Best regards,

    Rene

      Thanks for your input Rene.
It was a guess by my friend who gave it to me about the German giving to a Dutchman.
      Your thoughts are probably correct!
I had never seen a plain covered MK before.

        book

I am wondering if it was recovered or if perhaps the cover was dyed or painted as the photo shows unusual wear to the edges of the cover. Could you examine it closely and tell us if the "under color" is red or a different color?

          Hi Pauke...
I've had a close look, and IMO the cover has not been dyed or repainted. Re-covering is a possibility, but I'm no expert on this. The 'unusual wear' by the edge, on close inspection, is actually the remains of (I guess) something 'sticky' that the book has at some point in the past come into contact with and so they are actually little bits of old dried up 'gunge'!
Here are a few close-ups of inside spine etc...
