    Reinhard Heydrich Signed document, legit?

What do you think? Looks a lot different from formal stuff. I just don't know.

Looks fake to me. It doesn't match four original examples (including two from 1939) I've had in my collection. The 'e' looks very jittery whereas his signature was very sharp. If memory serves me well I believe there was a thread in this section about his signature posted a few years ago. A search should find it.

Yeah, I've seen that stuff in the thread, and I agree it does not match. There are aspects of it that match, but it's also very different. It does come from a dealer with a good reputation.

But with the money at stake, I should steer clear unless someone can tell me otherwise.

      Thanks.

Sorry to say that I don't like that document at all, the paper, the printing, the typing and the signatures.

        Best regards

So I am finding a lot of these "Heydrich signed" documents scattered on sites like Germania international and on Mr Snyder and his treasures site. They all seemed to be forged by the same exact person, because the signatures are very consistant but don't match a real Heydrich signature.

Someone sure went to a heck of a lot of trouble making these, and they fool quite a few people. They are selling off sites for $2K.

Kind of a reality check. Can't trust much when it comes to 3rd reich material.

Thanks DLD13 for that example. It is clearly much different.

I wonder where the forgers gets the stamp seals from. From the start the sig looked bad to me, but I thought maybe it was just a rush job signing from Heydrich because it comes from a good dealer and doesn't seem like it would be an easy forge. But there isn't a single real example out there that comes close to sig on the document..

With regards to the stamps, forgers will make their own or buy original ones when possible. Or they can get an image of a genuine one from a picture on the Web such as the one shown above, reverse the image in a photo editing programme and print it on to a sheet of acetate before carefully pressing it on to a faked document while the ink is still wet.

                        Heydrich

both signatures - Heydrich and Schmitt - are fakes.

I informed the seller about this document and to his credit he said he'd send it back to the cosigner with the info. Said he'd never have offered it to me if he thought it was bad.
