I would assume that his Morther or his Wife made this, in real time it's extremely difficult to read. The hand made Edelweiss is just spectacular.

It seems to be a home-made poem dealing with the death of the Gebirgsjäger soldier. It starts:

"In fernem Land da ist Dein Grab..."

It is very difficult to read the text and even to identify the name on the grave marker because

the pic is not very sharp.

I spent over an hour trying to bring out a picture in a much better focus, there is some water damage.

I will keep trying as it's an interesting item.
