    Billiards/Snooker/Pool

The officer in the centre would appear to be holding a cue of some sort, the one on the right looks as if he is hunched over a shot, and the one on the left probably has his coin on the table! If anyone agrees that they are playing a "cue and balls" game, which form would have been popular in 1940's German society?
    Thanks for looking,
    Kerry.

      Hi mikeburch,
Yes it is a period taken and printed shot. It is a "niche" I know, but I have never seen another. I guess I just didn't think of what TR officers did for relaxation!
      Thanks for your interest,
      Kerry.

I think it's a (long) pointer to show situations on a military map during a status report.

Yes, certainly another possibility, but less fun! Thanks Gerdan,

Anyone who has ever shot a game of pool, will, most definately, recognize the stances of these two Germans !

I would say they are looking on some kind of map table.

If you look at the photo and the wall in the background you can clearly see that there is not space enough for any kind of pool table. Also the angle of the stance the man to the right reveals that it is not space for any pool table.

Also, if they were playing some kind of pool I would have expected a more cheerful mood.

Not if you had money on the game and were about to lose. This is a pool game. You can see by the position of the man on the right that his elbow is back and he is in the process of taking a shot. definately a game being played.

Looks like a game of pool to me, too. Attached is a pic from my collection.

Yes billiards...for sure....herr doctor in the last one...they had lots of pool sharks in the war on both sides. Good think we didn't have to shoot them pool for europe...we may have lost.
