There is a Gerhard Janischewski (born 30th July 1924) listed in the Volksbund database as Missing In Action from 1st November 1942 in the Rzhev region. This would fit perfectly with where Grossdeutschland were involved in heavy fighting and being bled white at that time.

EDIT: Janischewski is also listed in the DRK Vermisstenbildliste as having served with II/Gren.Rgt GD. He was born in Braunschweig and was a locksmith before joining the army. The photo they use for his entry is the same one shown in the photo album. It also lists his MIA date as November 1942 at Rzhev.

Gerhard Janischewski is also shown top right in Post 5. Below that is a photo of a Gerhard Schuh - and there is a Gerhard Josef Georg Schuh, also born in 1924 (24th April 1924 at Dobrenz), listed in the Volksbund as being Killed In Action at Kornin as a Grenadier.

There is also a Wolfgang Eckardt - born 2nd November 1923 in Merseburg - listed as KIA 17th March 1943 at Aleksandrowka, 10 km nordw. Maloarchangelsk as a Grenaider.
And an Ernst Debus - born 8th November 1923 in San Fransico - is listed as dying 12th September 1944 in Berlin as a Fähnrich. He is buried in Dallgow-Döberitz-Kirchenfriedhof. Endgrablage: Reihe 7 Grab 27.
The others have no known grave.

and I think now, the both albums on the e-stand could be from the same man.

                          first this one

second with Poland, France and Vienna

and the third with Hospital in Vienna
