    Who are these men ?

    Hallo,

I've found this photo on the web and I was wondering what sort of this troops are.
They are wearing leather jackets, Italians Ammo pouches, German Weapons, it looks like a mixture of everything.

    I have just no idea.

    Thanks!

    Kind regards,

    Jeroen.

    Hungarian army?
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

They're from one of the late war units that the Germans recognized as elite, and thus supplied with good German weapons. Likely formations are the Szent Lazlo Division, SS-Brigade Ney, or the SS-Schi Bataillon.

They are looking totally regular to me, every equipment is hungarian, only the Panzerfaust and the Pzschrecks are german. The "leather jacket" is actually a leather west with wool sleeves which was an offical garment.

Did the Germans give Panzerfauste and Panzerschrek to the ordinary Hungarian units? I'm asking, because I don't know, but I didn't think they did. The elite units didn't use German uniforms, so that isn't part of the criteria.

The Hungarian Waffen-Grenadier units (25. WGD Hunyadi and 26. WGD Hungaria) were issued Waffen-SS uniforms. However, these were low-priority units for weapons and training.

The best Honved elements were taken directly into the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS still in their Hungarian uniforms. Szent Lazlo was officially part of the Honved, but was treated like a Heer division. Brigade Ney and the Schi Bataillon became full Waffen-SS units (not Waffen- status). It's ironic that they fought in their previous uniforms, while the Waffen-Grenadier Hungarian divisions DID receive German uniforms.

With all that said, these men in the photo could be from, say, 25. Infantry Division, but if they aren't from one of the units I mentioned, perhaps they are from 2nd Armored Division. I can imagine the Germans supplying that division's infantry with modern antitank weapons.

Lot of hungarian troops did trainig for both the german and hungarian antitank weapons,

Here is a photo taken in sept. 1944 on a hungarian PZ Schreck trainig!

The other pic is about the hungarian variant!

And at least a footage of an other training in december for the hungarian 44M Páncélrém.

So I would still say this could be any late war regular hungarian formation, but maybe somebody knows the exact info behind this photo.
