    Photo worth getting?

hey, im VERY VERY VERY wary if this item due to the story that goes with it, the person claims that it was removed from a photo album in Adolf Hitler's residence however the only proof of this is the sellers word, as far as the photo itself I believe its an SA man but im not sure and if it was why would it be in a photo album in hitler's residence?

If it was in AH's residence, then I do not believe it would be anything to do with Hitler.

The question would be why would the leader of a nation of 70 million people (several million less in 1945) want a photo of an SA nco?

If it really was from his residence (which one anyway, there were a few) then it could possibly have belonged to one of his staff.

What proof is there to say where it came from?

I have lots of great SA photos without needing to 'sex' up where I got them from.

So, in my opinion, you are correct to be wary.

    Best,
    Chris.

Sorry, to also add, in answer to your question, it illustrates the collar piping really nicely and also the rank tab is very clear so it is worth getting. He doesn't have any awards that we can see so not a stand out photo. The metal on his right breast is from the cross strap.
He isn't someone known (to me anyway).

Obviously price is a factor. £10 maximum on ebay.

The front didn't look to appealing which is propably the scanner but the back of the photo looks genuine to me.

      Chris.

Sounds to me like a typical bringback story, trying to sexy up an item by vet or family member.I cant tell you how many times Ive heard "My grandfather took the dagger off a dead SS soldier" & you will have a HJ knife or SA dagger. In times like this its almost a reverse of "buy the item NOT the story" The story is 100% false/wrong items is 100% good

I agree with Chris, its a standard SA photo likely to be used on his ausweis, id even punt thats its worth less then £10 as you cant see his unit collar patch, how much is the seller asking out of interest?

            photo

The photographer's stamp on the back is from the town of Gummersbach which is due east of Cologne should that info be of any use.
