Here are some items removed from a soldier's wallet ,can anybody shed any light on them unit,name ,area etc there is a postcard to follow.

Can anybody read this? it could hold a clue to his name etc.

Altough hard to read the text doesn't seem to be German, couldd it be French or Italian maybe?

Edit: Just noticed that the postcard says Made in Italy. So, it's Italian.

If you could post a larger image of the portrait, that may help. His Waffenfarbe could be white- if so, he's from an Infanterie unit.
