Yes indeed. Large stores of them where captured in 1940, used mostly by U-boat crews after being dies black, if memory serves me correctly.

There are numerous photos of U-Boat crewmembers wearing these in Gordon Williamson's " TTorpedo Los." Apparently, they were quite popular to wear at sea.
