Storing you award certificates & documents

I hope I'm in the right part of the forum to ask this question. I am worried about the storage of my collection of award certificates and documents after I heard another collector saying that the acid content of plastic an paper can damage them over a long period of time.

I have my collection stored in Rexel CKP/A4 clear plastic envelopes which have a green plastic strip down the edge already punched to go in a folder. The documents are mounted on good quality white A4 paper using photo corners, so nothing sticky touches the original certificates.

Am I doing the right thing or will they be damaged by the plastic and paper. What is the best way ? Thanks.

As long as what you are storing them in is acid free, there should be no problems. Tom

I use albums and sleeves from the german company leuchturm which specialises in paperwork collectors supplies
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

As Simon has stated, Leuchturm are indeed very good supplier of a range of products. Well worth checking out if you are a paper item collector.

        Regards,

        Carl

p.s. I am sure you probably know this but no harm in making note anyway, always keep your documents out of sunlight and try not to handle them too often.

Leuchtturm is definitely one to use.
