    Execution Photo, which movie?

Picked up some loose photos and photo albums over the weekend, and this large formate photo was part of 5 press type Italian images. This one IMO looks very staged and im thinking it might be a film shot, anyone any ideas? Pete.

If indeed from a movie, could the middle SS officer be Hannes Messemer (played the commandant in the Great Escape)?

it looks to me like the soldiers leaving the field -- apparently the execution squad -- are wearing Italian helmets, not German.

Brian, yes they are indeed Italian, and the officer on the right appears to be an Italian SS officer, im sure ive seen this movie, its just too staged to be a period execution photo, for a start the photgrapher would have to be on a ledge of some sort to have taken the photo at such an angle.

"Il Generale della Rovere" ("Der falsche General" - "The fake general") from 1959, by Roberto Rossellini (Vittorio De Sica was an actor in that movie)
