    The notch in the barrel retainer looks like it's from the 8.8cm family of guns.

        Agree with that. Many photos seen of 88s marked this way with tank kills.

                              This was another of the German secret weapons. The idea was to fire the puppies into the Soviet lines, thus melting their hearts!
