    Africa Korps stamps

Anyone familiar with these? They seem to have glue on the backside and are the approx. size of common stamps.

    Hi,

They may be commemorative stamps produced either during or after the war for the Afrika Korps.
This is a tradition in Germany, making "postage stamps" to remember an event; although they cannot be used to send a letter through the postal service.
Even today, Germans buy these stamps at regional events, such as beer festivals etc; and they are designed to "seal" an envelope on the reverse - not to be used as a traditional "postage stamp".
Many of these items were produced during the TR period, but I have never seen this example - not to say that it is not original!
Hope you can find out more on this particular item,

    best wishes,

    John.

I can't remember what they were for (other than use in North Africa) but there were such stamps, BUT they have been reproduced.

        Originals are quite rare.

          DAK stamp

Here is one that came off of a US POW camp guard's scrapbook page, it had a DAK breast eagle on it as well.
