Yes a very nice urkunde however the cross awarded on this day would not have came in an LDO marked etui, so this may have been an etui for one of the vets purchased crosses.

often the vet would purchase an extra cross or two for every day wear on his combat tunics with the actual awarded cross sent home for safe keeping or used on his stepping out (dress) tunic. some used the purchased cross on the combat tunic and LDO crosses for dress, just depended on the preference of the awardee.

Whatever the case this man being a Pionier must have seen some heavy combat and is worthy of further research IMO! Congrats on your find and now the search starts for his other award certs in an attempt to bring the group back together.

Good luck in your first semester of University S.W.!

All the research has already been done. This EK1 Urkunde belongs to Heinz Grimberg, winner of the Knight's Cross and German Cross in Gold. The Urkunde even appeared in the Biblio Verlag RKT series.

A friend knows the guy who owns Grimberg's Soldbuch and DKiG Urkunde. I wonder how/when the group was split.

I don't want to be picky, but what happend to the Urkunde between being scanned for the book and now being stained, punched and damaged on the sides?

I do not know about it.

                  However, this came from Hamburg.

Probably cleaned up (ie. Photoshopped) for use in the book. I've done exactly this when using documents in my books.

You didn't know?! But your name here is "HeinzGrimberg". And you used a picture of him as your avatar, a photo in which he is wearing the RK! I'm confused.

Attached is a photo of Grimberg from my personal collection. That's him on the left. Photo taken mid-1942, during the advance toward Stalingrad.

                        I certainly did not know.

                        but, I had expected.

                        I tryin, http://en.ww2awards.com/person/5420

However, the information here was insufficient.

The photograph was obtained from two places.

Not sure I've got information on, but I was just expected.

Plus, I am a novice collector because, I thought that it was a delusional.

Thank you so much and friendly response.

                        Best regards

I have in my collection the original picture postcard that the autographed glossy pictures are copied from that HG autographed. Along with two autographed pictures I have. The original came directly from HG via a good friend. HG also wrote on the reverse describing the uniform etc. he was wearing at the time.

                            hello, mr.Steve.

                            WOW.. very interesting photos !

Difficult to obtain the original photograph is to wear it.
