An interesting couple of small format photos i picked up this moring, first is a wreck of a Uboat, damaged area tot eh middle by the looks of it, appears to have been beached. The secomd i just cannot make out, intsalation perhaps, does that look like the bow of a sub on the right, Some of the photos that i left on the vendors table were all marked Lubek , 1946,so perhaps this might help with the wrecked uboat Id, anyway thought it might be of interest to members. Really interesting photos. Sorry that I cant add any historical background.
At first with the date at 1946 I thought this might be the time frame many of the surviving boats were scuttled or used for target practice as part of Operation Deadlight.
The late war Type XXI photograph is nice. That is a U-boat in the foreground docked at a fortified post. You are mistaking the conning tower for an installation. These were the modern conning tower type everyone else ripped the design from.
