Gebirgsjager Major W/ Other Officers

I assume in the east somewhere, does anyone recognize the weapon the officer on the right carries. Thank you in advance to those that respond.

Bryant is correct...plus it looks like the officer on the left has one also. This is an outstranding photo. Love the officer on the left wearing riding breeches and knee socks. Also note that all four of these Gebirgsjägers are wearing different boots. The officer on the left is wearing private purchase mountain boots with Tricouni nails all round the soles of the boots. The Jäger next to him is wearing riding boots with spurs. The officer in the center wearing the Windjacke and holding the map, sports a pair of ski boots. And the officer on the left is wearing standard issue mountain boots.

Certainly the east. Perhaps 1 or 5 geb.div.

I once found a broken and beat up SVT-40 which had belonged to the 6 G.D.
