Former STIER Officer as Kdt of "IA34"

    Fellow Researchers and Archivists:

Please see the attached photo. It is of Fritz Goldammer, who was the radio officer and Adjutant aboard the HSK STIER during her cruise. The photo shows him aboard "IA34" in the Summer of 1944.

What type of ship or vessel was IA34? Any chance of narrowing down where this particular ship was based in the summer of '44?

Also, what does the writing on the back say? I can't make it out.

    Thanks for any assistance!

    MfG,

    Joe

The name of the ship should be " TA 34 " - not " IA 34" and I found

that TA 34 was a ex-Jugolavia Torpedoboot. Hope this will help you.

          I have to correct:

The name of the ship is "TA 37" as Akira told us, not TA34.
I did not verify the number of the ship.

          TA 37 was a Topedoboat Ausland ex-Italy

          Gladio (Triest).
