At the same time I got these, the seller had another buyer here in NZ who bought more photos from the same group, about another 10??

Hello.

Origionally I presumed the SSTK soldiers in a couple of the photos had been transferred to form the cadre of the new W-SS formations (Nord, SS Infantry Brigade, etc) because they stopped wearing the totenkopf collar patch and were wearing the SS runes. But, one of them is still wearing the 5 on the shoulder strap.

The photos of the troops enjoying a beer is great!

It's been hard work to find out much about this Standarte.

I believe this unit was raised in Berlin & Oranienburg 12-9-39, then transferred to Vienna & Linz in November 39. Eventually it was absorbed into other TK units & ceased to exist??

Unit names are listed as Dietrich Eckhardt & Brandenburg.
