then and now, Wissembourg

I was in Wissembourg yesterday and here are a few interesting then and now photos. I converted them into black and white to make them more similar.

The first one is the city hall (Rathaus) of Wissembourg- the earlier photo taken in 1944

the earlier photo is also taken in 1944- one building was later torn down and replaced with a newer structure and the trees were not there in 1944

last but not least the earlier photo taken on 12 June, 1940

Love it. You did a great job getting them at the same angles the originals were taken in too! Always a pleasure to look at these.
The City Hall (and building to the left) look to be the same since the war except it seems they took down the complex behind it and made the Hall larger.

Those are very well done aren't they Bill! I also am a huge fan of the then and now format and if I lived in Europe, I would plan some vacation time around known inner city/suburban battle areas making my own T&N files!

thanks for the positive comments. Cole, no not all areas were bombed and this is a historical city with little strategic importance. There were a number of battles in the area but not in Wissembourg. It is easy to find the locations as not much has changed here in the last 70 years.
