Diferent uniforms in the same photo.

You can find here the male part of the Wieprecht family plus his brother in law, unafortunately only the name of Fritz, the one in the center, has known by me. Look at his right his brother wearing an Officers tunic with officers cap altought he is an Oberfeldwebel, his brother Fritz wears a M36 tunic with a NCO cap and have the same rank and at his left is his brother in law, for other photos see the thread regarding weddings, is the husband of his sister Eloise, and he wears a rare private purchase tunic that looks as a tropical cloth with Green collar and field gray shoulder straps without pasants, in other photos he wears pasants for the I.R. 124. Also of interest is that both brothers has choosen to wear the EK II ribbon alone in the buttonhole, but one wear a single ribbon bar for the Ostmedaille above the pocket and Fritz has deceided to duplicate the EK II award wearing it in conjuntion with the Ostmedaille in the same way, his brother in law is using a ribbon bar to display his EK II, Osmedaille, Westwall medal and Romanien Medal Crusade againt bolchevismus, as you can see all the three are combat veterans.

The man on the left is an Oberfähnrich-- Senior Officer Candidate. A number of "warrant officer" types also wore the same insignia combination-- ordance specialist, doctors, etc.

Seeing this other two pictures you can understand why I say with the same rank, here you can see both brothers, one gefreiter and the other Oberfeldwebel, thn only one now as an Unteroffizier and in the first photo both as an Oberfeldwebels, but one as officer candidate. In the Heer rank and promotions were linked to suitable and capacibilities not to seniority or medals, here we can see a soldier who outranked his brother despite this has more service time and bravery medals, in the time he passed from Gefreiter to Obefähnrich his brother won the EK I and Gold Wound Badge, but no promotion. Due this I agree more as an Oberfähnrich than a warrant officer authorized to wear this insignias combination.

      Thanks Rick
